Hi... I'm a resident of California and I have less than 3 days to pick my college before I leave on a school competition trip. I plan on majoring in accountancy and it basically boils down to 3 schools.
1) University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign - School of Business( 48k)
2) Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business (50K)
3) UCSB (econ and accounting) 34K

Aside from cost... I plan to work in California later on.... chicago.. ( mebbe but not to hot on that idea.) and I also plan on getting an MBA after 2 years of graduation.. and want to get my CPA license... so which schools offers the best opportunities and environment??please help!

SCU’s accounting department is pretty fantastic. The placement rate at the big four (EY, Deloitte, KPMG and PWC) is very high. I knew a lot of accounting majors and they were all very happy with the program. I can think of two accounting majors who didn’t place at a big four firm. One placed at a reputable regional firm, the other decided not to work as an accounting major after graduation.

Obviously, most of the accounting majors wind up either working at San Jose or San Francisco offices. All of the ones I know wanted to stay in the Bay Area, so I don’t know how difficult it is to land a SoCal job.

Cost isn’t something I can really help you figure out too much, but I can definitely recommend the SCU Accounting program without any reservations at all.
