college decision to late?

ok so heres my delima, in high school i pretty much did the minimal, just doing whatever i could to get by with a passing grade, mainly do to the fact that i had already acquired my A+ certification (pc repair) and cisco 1 2 3 and 4 networking certification. about a year after i got out of school and started working in the pc field. i then decided i really hated it, and i wanted a somthing different, ill spare u the rest of the story but heres my question...

the college i want to go to has no standard act or gpa requirement, they just accept the most qualified, to give an example of theres admissions heres a sample text, describing those who got accepted.
"he middle 50% of the freshman class scored in the 22-27 range on the ACT"
"The middle 50% of the freshman class had a high school GPA of 3.3-3.9"

unfortinetly for me i have a gpa of 1.77, i kno its horrid, but like i said i just did what i could to get by. i know i could have done alot better but that deosnt matter now.
As for the ACT i got a 25 on the pre act. but i barely even tried, i kno i could at least get a 27+ if not 30.
my question is, is there any hope of my getting into this school? it it possible to maybe go to a community college for a year or 2 to boost my gpa up?

I would at least apply.
Who knows.

I would have suggested you write about your passion for computers in your essay, but you said you didnt like it. So I dont know.

Good luck.

Go to a community college, or where ever you can get in and get A's and transfer.

Community college and transferring sounds like a good plan to me.

Community college performance will allow you two great benefits;

1) You'll get back into the school scene after being gone for a while and you'll have opportunity to put behind you, the sub-par performance. Getting As and Bs in the CC setting will boost your confidence
2) Good CC performance will lessen the "risk factor" that colleges will feel about you. They want proven academic potential and work ethic. You HS career can be correctly seen as an anomaly for you based upon your recent successful CC work.

Best of luck to you.

allright thx for the reply guys... Im gonna go take my
acts in jan, and hopefully soon after start going to CC =).

^ good plan :)
