College Decisions for IB Career

Finalizing my college list for EA and ED applications towards the end of this year. Ideally, I’d like to enter an IB career after college. I’m seeking input on the list I have, as well as adding or removing schools. Thank you!

In no particular order: Penn (definite reach), Cornell, NYU, UMichigan, Illinois Urbana-Champaign, UWisconsin-Madison, UVA, Williams, Claremont McKenna, Middlebury, Wesleyan, and Colgate (All out of state).
Bath or Manchester for the UK.

When you say, Penn, do you mean, Wharton, or Penn arts and science? All of these places have decent economics departments as well as a number of alumni in the industry. It’s fairly easy to do a LinkedIn search. I did one for LAC alum at Goldman Sachs not long ago and came up with this:

Middlebury - 59
Williams - 59
Colgate - 56
Amherst - 52
Wellesley - 34
Hamilton - 33
Bowdoin - 33
Wesleyan - 25
Colby - 24
Swarthmore - 21
Vassar - 18
Haverford - 14
Pomona - 13
Carleton - 10
Bates - 8
Davidson - 8

Intended major?

Lehigh and Nova

Consider adding Hamilton, which is perhaps slightly less of an admissions reach than Williams and Middlebury.

Though it would be something of a geographical outlier, the University of Texas might be worth taking a look at. UT places well in finance, and it offers a very elite/competitive honors program.

Thank you! I’m going to add Wellesley to the list. By Penn I mean arts and sciences as Wharton would be a stretch.

My intended major is Economics, I’ll take a look at Lehigh, Villanova, and Hamilton. Even though I have Claremont McKenna on there I’d like to stay New England/Mid West.

Williams, Wellesley, Middlebury, Wesleyan, Colgate, Hamilton and Claremont McKenna offer some of the nation’s strongest economics programs:

Of the colleges you listed in your original post, Williams in some ways might be the toughest admit, btw:

Update: Wellesley and Wesleyan I mixed up. I removed Claremont McKenna and Wesleyan but added Nova and Hamilton. Deciding on narrowing it down to 10-12 schools

You might want to consider Indiana University Kelley. Their IB workshop has almost a 100 percent job placement rate, although the workshop is very competitive to gain admission to.

A couple years ago, LinkedIn ranked schools based on placement in particular fields. The top LACs for IB were Amherst, Middlebury, and Wellesley. Each of these schools ranked in the top 20 amongst all colleges and universities in the nation.
