oh, my.......

Actually, this is last year's class (Class of 04), not Class of 02...the info comes from a self-reporting web "spot" on TJ's "intranet"...while it's probably close to accurate, there would be changes...

TJ publishes a list of where all its seniors are going to school at the end of the year...you might find it by googling tjToday...

It's an amazing school, with an amazing student body...they're really great kids, too (my S goes there; I volunteer there; I know a bunch of these kids)...

What I find most amazing are the rejections! From being on this board I should be over it by now, but it never ceases to amaze me when I see just how incredibly selective the "most selective" schools really are.

Certainly highlights the folly of the "here are my stats, what are my chances?" threads, huh?

Considering that this is one of the best magnet schools in the country, you would like to see a little more imagination in the college lists.

I agree a little more imagination would be nice, but let's face it -- these kids are going to apply to UVA, Va. Tech and William and Mary as safeties AND for financial reasons to get that in-state tuition. And they also have the stats to make Ivies, Cal Tech, MIT, etc. at least reasonable possibilities so they might as well take a shot. Given all that, I guess there is at least a reasonable number of interesting choices.

This school attracts the best and the brightest in Fairfax County VA as well as as a number of surrounding counties. It's no surprise that these kids, in one of the richest areas of the country, do so well.

uh-oh, looks like we're locked out of the TJ server... :(

Doesn't surprise me. I mean, this had full names, personal comments and everything. It was obviously intended for consumption by the TJ family, not the whole world.

it would be even more impressive to see the full list of acceptances, not just where they are likely attending. Most of them only have 1 school listed.

my high school does the same kind of thing, though it's officially recorded, and printed out into binders for future years to use as reference

~1/3 of the TJ class goes to UVA

/I'd love to see the full matriculation list.

I,too, expected TJ to close it down. This info was available on another thread a week or so ago. I found it very revealing and quite fascinating. I also felt it was probably not intended by TJ as a fully public document and that they would be tremendously concerned about their privacy lapses. So I did the only appropriate thing. I printed it out.

ROFLOL -- I didn't have your foresight, unfortunately.

The link is back up.

This is quite a school of achievers! There appear to be twice as many boys as girls on this list. Is this a public magnet school, entrance by exam?

Fascinating reading - it made me realize how daunting it must be to be a college adcom at an ivy and read through application after application of so many well qualified students and decide who to admit. It really is a lottery. They are fortunate to have great in-state public colleges to use as academic and financial "safeties".

Blizzard, I agree. In Texas we have excellent enormo-schools, but if we had a W and M my life would be much easier.

Yes, Thomas Jefferson is a well known magnet science/math school in Northern Virginia with entrance by exam only. These kids were brilliant to begin with.

WHOA!! Sorry for this threadjack, but I just this moment realized that your screenname is QUILTguru, with a Q, and not what I had been reading all this time (GUILTguru, with a G)!!

Whew, all of a sudden I feel a lot better. :) Don't mind me, carry on.

LOL! Yes, I make QUILTS..hopefully not guilt.

c-mudge:

it must be the pack-rat in you, that prefers hardcopy of incriminating evidence. :)

btw: my printer is working....

Very few LACs on the list. It looked self-reported (reading the EC comments: "blahblahblah.")

How does one school get a dozen kids admitted to Princeton? Seems really high from one school.

Smart athletes!
