College drinking

I don't drink(I'm 17).
How bad is drinking in college? In high school, if you don't drink, people know and don't think your cool(because underage drinking and getting busted every other weekend is so much cooler, right?!)
Do you get judged if you aren't a big drinker? The college's I'm applying to are Temple(and that's a huge drinking school), Kutztown, Albright, and Penn State Berks. Does anyone know how bad the drinking is in these colleges?

I’m at Lehigh and I don’t drink.

The above statement is basically an oxymoron. Oh well, I get by. People don’t care so much what you do in college. Drunk people provide entertainment though once in a while. Over 20 freshman were arrested/cited for alcohol-related charges, and some were even taken to the hospital for alcohol poisoning, the first weekend here (orientation weekend). Just be glad you don’t have any impulse to take those risks.

I’m happy that at least I have control over myself. People in high schol go out and get alcohol poisoning and have to get rushed to the hospital, and the next weekend, their out drinking again. I understand that there will be a lot of drinking in college, but once your a junior in college, it’s not a big deal if you drink or not because you’ll be 21.
And at least I have control over myself.

If you don’t drink because you don’t want to and you don’t judge others for it then nobody will care. If you don’t drink and you think you’re better than other people because of it then you’ll (rightfully) be seen as a prick.

Drinking is not bad at all in college. Everyone knows this.

Drinking is GREAT in college!!!

Actually, we’re not remotely close to a ‘huge drinking school’.

I was a strong non-drinker, until my second weekend at Emory. Then I got ****faced two nights in a row. I love drinking :D

Dude I am a freshman in college and a full brother in a fraternity and I don’t drink. Trust me it is not a big deal. You can drink in college or not drink. No one, for the most part, will force you to drink.

“Dude I am a freshman in college and a full brother in a fraternity”

Explain.

Either you are a pledge or an academic freshman (but if you were the latter idk how you rushed)

He probably hasn’t started school yet and is a rising sophomore.

“Do you get judged if you aren’t a big drinker?”

One of the greatest things about college is that it’s not like high school – my experience has been that people in college don’t really care what other people do and don’t sit around gossiping about who drinks or whatever and who doesn’t. Just do what you feel comfortable with and don’t worry about it.

Well I haven’t even been at college for a week yet, but I can say I don’t drink. My roommate and 2 suite mates are exactly the same with this. We’re so lucky to have dormed with each other. I don’t know I maybe want to drink the in the future but I have trouble seeing the point. I feel uncomfortable thinking that I would. But I guess it’s just because I don’t know what I’m missing. In away drinking is on par with smoking weed. And not that I judge those who do, but I would never do something like that, it’s just not me. So I feel like I would contradict myself if I drank.

I am a junior and don’t drink. It’s never been a problem. What has occasionally been a problem is that I don’t like to be around others who are drinking, either. I don’t care if they do, I just find it very boring to be the only sober person in a room. It takes me a little longer than others to find my crowd in a new place, because a lot of people will just party every night during welcome week and meet people at the parties, and I have to take a different route. But it’s not really a big deal, nobody cares what you do or don’t do.

I hate the party culture on campus. The biggest, most obnoxious drinkers also tend to be the biggest assh0les, for sure. Plus, I really can’t figure out how people even DRINK alcohol, because it tastes so bad; I think they might be trying too hard to fit in.

Anyways, I’m a senior now. No one has pressured me to drink, but then again, I tend to avoid those people who might.

Oh but it tastes so good.

if you think alcohol tastes bad you are drinking the wrong things

mmmmmm hurricanes

I didn’t drink at all my freshman year and had no issues because of it. Granted, I go to a dry campus, so I generally wasn’t around drinking anyway, but I had a group of friends that wasn’t interested in drinking either.

My sophomore year I spent in London, where going to the pub is definitely a big part of the culture, and I still didn’t drink until halfway through the second semester. I’d go out to the pubs, but just order a coke. No big deal, and no one ever hassled me about it either.

I couldn’t care less if I’m at a party and the people I’m with are drinking or not.

Don’t rain on my parade and I won’t rain on yours. I’m there to chill out and have a good time. Whether you drink or smoke or hookup or whatever at parties doesn’t make you cool or a loser. What makes people like you is if you’re fun to hang out with.

I love gin and tonic’s
mmm
