What is the protocol regarding e-mails received from colleges based on student's scores on standardized testing? Should they reply? Is it okay to just look up info about the college and not reply? Any info about what you have done would be great! D is in 10th.

Your D, if scoring well on the PSAT and SAT, will literally get hundreds of emails from now thru senior year. There is no need to reply… only reply to the ones you are seriously interested in.

Some students set up an email account just for this “junk mail”, and use it for all of that sort of stuff. When they start communicating with colleges and universities in earnest, they create a separate account.

You will also get bags and bags of junk mail from colleges based on PSAT and SAT scores. We got a kick out of the fact that my son miss-bubbled his name on the PSAT when he took it for the first time in 10th grade. Three years of junk mail sent to John Slith. (Name changed to protect the sloppy bubbler.) His brother did the same thing, and we got another three years of mail sent to Mike s mith.

Thank you to all. Yes, we did set up a separate account. She didn’t hear from many colleges, but the ones she did were ones she might definitely be interested in.

That’s too funny about the names! lol
