Being that I have enrolled at Rutgers University a few days ago, I have been given the oppurtunity to create my NetID, aka email address. For Rutgers, the format is YOURNAME@eden.rutgers.edu. However, I don't know if I should put my WHOLE name, which is 8 letters, or if I should put my first and middle initial and whole last name, or if I should put my first name initial and whole last name, or what. Does it really even matter? Is it bad if the email address is longer? Is it bad if its too short? What is a good size to have it? Please help.

I know that this is a really stupid question to ask, but I am VERY EXCITED about this and want to have an e-mail address that I won't regret.

if i were to pick my email address, i would probably use the first letter in my first name and then my whole last name. I think it all comes down to preference though.

check to see if you can add an alias to your college email... if a lot of people use firstnamelastname@college.edu, it would probably be a good idea to stick with the format. If you can have an alias, that would be shorter or easier to remember, then you can use both! (my school uses firstname.lastname @college.edu, but also has aliases of initialsnumber @college.edu, and you can also apply to get anything you want (some friends have been able to just use their first name or nickname))
