I heard that UCs drop the requirement for an entrance assay, is it true?
Do your own homework. Check their website or call them instead of being lazy and asking us. Go to the source.
Do you mean Assay or Essay?
Those are 2 different words with completely different meanings.
There is the Analytic Writing Placement Exam (APWE) which is required for all the UC’s if you do not meet the following conditions:
Score 680 or higher on the Writing section of the SAT Reasoning Test.
Score 30 or higher on ACT English Language Arts
Score 30 or better on ACT Combined English/Writing (last administered June 2015)
Score 3 or higher on the College Board Advanced Placement Examination in English
(Language or Literature)
Score 5 or higher on the International Baccalaureate Higher Level Examination in English: Literature (formerly IB HL English A1)
Score 6 or higher on the International Baccalaureate Standard Level Examination in
English (Language A)
Complete with a grade of C or better an acceptable college course in English composition
worth 4 quarter or 3 semester units
There are Math/Chem and Language placement exams at the different UC campuses and you need to check each school’s website, which are required.
On the UC application, the two essays questions have now been replaced with 4 short answer essay questions.
Take your pick, what are you asking about??
I mean personal statements.
UC’s still have personal statements. Instead of 2 longer essays, you have 4 shorter essays.
Thank you for your informative answer.
