Very helpful site... BUMP!

polarbear-where did the 4.0/1600 kid end up going? saw he was rejected from HYS

That's interesting. I noticed the lower GPA's. The SAT's weren't that great.

justforgetme-- he went to princeton

Wow that is really interesting. It makes me wonder how many ppl with low stats are getting in because they are atheletes, legacies, have lots of $$$, etc... Because I'm sure there is a reason y people with better gpas and sats were getting rejected and ones with lower stats were accepted. Life isn't fair.

Wow, Kit, my mom went to Staples...:) And is that Amity in West Haven? I go to West Haven Academy of Karate -- Willimantic and there are tournaments every year at Amity HS. I go to EO Smith in Storrs...the backwoods area with a lot of cows.

Anyone else have schools that do this? Post the websites.

The amity school is also my school I'm in my senior year there. The person who did get accepted to Yale last year is a girl. Also the reason why so many people apply there is that we are literally 5 min away from Yale. Lots of kids at the school have parents who teach there or work there. And yes lots of people do reach for the stars and some get in. One thing that needs to be remembered about the school is we have a ridicuously difficult curriculum. The highest GPA for a kid in my class this year is a 3.94 . Having a 4.0 and A's in all of your classes is not very possible in our school. All of these people on this site would be blown away at the number or intelligent people who have all their scores perfect on SATs yet can't seem to get a perfect GPA due to the caliber of the classes.

very cool, eireann. My friend Caroline had her sweet 16 on a boat, and it turnd out that the chef on that boat had gone to Staples and had had the same physics teacher as me. Have you been to any of the Players' shows? they're amazing. We just did Cabaret.

Bigndude, do you know why she got accepted to yale when the others did not? I noticed she as qualified as a few of the other people. Was she an athlete or something?

she got wait listed at Harvard. Accepted like everywhere else. Was she urm, the sat was 1440 i think.

i am really scared now. i applied EA to this school, and this person (2003) got rejected...ex-do you know if it was EA or RD? i have like the exact same stats, but my gpa is 3.83, but i will send then my end of trimester grades, so my gpa will be 3.91..and i got a 650 on writing + math IIC, and i dont know what i will get on bio...i am very scared that i wont get in now...crap!!!!

She did tennis I'm pretty sure she was one of the Captains, both of her parents are doctors and work at Yale so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it.

Could someone explain to me again how to do the ctrl+F thing again? I can't do it! I'm special=)

Hey polarbear, you go to AHS too? I'm guessing your Maggie =D

hahaha, no I've never actually been to Staples. My aunt stayed in the area and my cousin goes to Barlow, but my mom went to UConn and never left so we live about an hour and a half away...one reason that I do NOT want to go to uconn

Could someone explain to me again how to do the ctrl+F thing again? I can't do it! I'm special=)

I'm not sure how to explain it. Hit control-F (or command-F on a mac) and then type in the word you are looking for.

I think this is how you do that:

Press control + F (2 buttons at the same time! ) on your keyboard.
Then a screen should pop up where you can type in what you are looking for.
This works for PC i believe, not sure about mac

Yeah, I get it now. Thanks!
