College Essay Emergency

I just applied to my first school, and was understandably excited to be done with the process. Unfortunately, my first deadline was for my dream school, and I pushed finalizing my essay off to the last minute. The night of, I added and rearranged a few things according to the advice I received from teachers and peers that read my essay, and then swiftly went through the process of submitting my application in the midst of an adrenaline rush. Needless to say, that was a horrible idea, and upon going back and looking at my essay, I had a typo- “student” was spelled “studednt”, and even worse, I somehow didn’t copy and paste my entire closing paragraph! I’m not going to act like it was the best essay in the world to begin with, I’m sure they’ve read worse but it is definitely not my best piece of writing. Is it wort withdrawing and resubmitting my application? Should I email admissions and hope that someone will have pity on me and read my actual essay with the closing? Or would that just draw too much attention to my already average piece of writing? Let me know what advice you have.

I think it’s a done deal.

You waited until the last minute, and got burnt.

But don’t trust me. Make an appointment with your college admissions counselor this morning, and ask him/her what to do.

My guess is that the advice will be to get going with the rest of your applications.
