College Essay Published in Newspaper--How do I mention this on CommonApp?

My English teacher was very happy with my college essay. As a result, she contacted her friend, a main editor at my town’s local newspaper, so that it could be published.
How do I formally mention to admissions officers/viewers of my CommonApp that my essay was published? Should I just include “published in [local news site]” at the end of my writing?
I believe it would add a level of prestige to my applications. Thanks in advance.

Not sure that this will help your chances of admission at most selective colleges & universities.

If you must, then just note “published in local newspaper”, but I do not recommend adding this notation unless your local newspaper is the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal.

Is you English teacher writing one of your recommendations? If yes, this is the perfect place for this to be mentioned. It will give it credibility. What a nice honor and compliment.

Great point. Thanks

Yes, she is. I’ll ask her to include it here–thanks

Is there any risk of the essay being flagged by plagiarism software?

Yes, that was my concern as well. Which is why there must be some note in her application that this was her essay that was published, preferably in her English teacher recommendation.
