There is a question that appears on all college applications (well, maybe most of them): “Describe what you did two past summers” (I am just summarizing it). Fortunately, I did a lot of things this and last summers. But, I don’t know how to write the essay. Should I write two paragraphs: One about last summer and another about this summer? Should I make it straightforward: listing things and what I got out of them? Or, should I make it personal (I don’t know how I can do that)? What kind of essay should it be?

please answer my questions. I am trying to finish writing my essays before school starts (I will have so many things to do- SAT, recommendations, APs and honors homework, asking people to read and edit my essays).

come on...say something. this is the essay everyone has to write. how do i write the summer essay? how do YOU write it?

ummm...depends on the word limit

If 150 words or less: straightforward-just tell what you did (1 paragraph); impersonal

If 250 words: tell what you did and how you personally changed or grew (2 paragraphs- like you said: 1 about this summer and another about last summer); not really personal

If 500: Pick one activity and explain its influence on you in depth and how you became a better person- make it personal
