College Essay Structure?

Hi. I'm applying to enter USC for fall 2007 as a transfer student. i will be entering my sophmore year of college there.

Well, the essay prompt reads, "The 18th century French philosopher Denis Diderot said, "Only passions, great passions, can elevate the soul to great things." Describe one of your passions and discuss its contribution to your personal growth."

What im asking here how to structure when writing a college essay like this? I know how to write Causal essays, an analytical paper but how should i go about writing this essay? I'm one to structure my essay before i write it...sort of in that classic and cliche burger style with the buns and meat...dont act like you dont know what im talking about.

So how do i go about it? thanks!

oh, the essay says to be between 500-700 words but usc told me its okay if i went 750 or so.

hey, don't bother with the burger style...its to constrictive and cliche. My advice is, although ur an organization person like me, it really helps for essays like this if you do a freewrite beforehand. The point is that you show them the way your mind works, so figure it out yourself first. what is most important to you about your topic? as you write out your thoughts, you will get a picture of this. Then begin your intro with something that depicts what is important to you and let your ideas flow from there...hope it helped
