<p>For my college essay I have to write about a topic of my choice. I want to do something about my life, sorta. Something that has happened in my family which has made me the person I am today. I'm just afraid if I say what it is that happened it could actually hurt my chances of getting in.
The topic was/is my dad's previous drug use. Should I use this or think of something else?</p>

<p>-it says the first topic to avoid is drug use. however, it’s not your own drug use, so talking about how it’s affected you might be okay. i don’t think there’s any reason not to if you show the impact on you.</p>
