College essay word limit

So I'm writing a self reflection college essay and it says it should be at least 150 words. With such a small minimum requirement, do you think they looking for short and direct essays or longer ones which will exceed the minimum? I don't know whether to keep it to about 200 words or up to 400.

thanks

well they just give you a lame lower minute...you don't have to look at it seriously....most of the essays fall in the range 400-550 words....

I'm doing one for George Mason... they say "You may choose to write about your ambitions and goals, a special talent or unusual interest that sets you apart from your peers, or a significant event or relationship that has influenced you during your life." Do you think I should focus the whole essay on one topic or highlight all of them?

One topic, and one topic only.

I wouldn't go more than 25-50% over a limit that they gave you. If it is twice what it should be, they would notice.

for a 200 a 300 would be ok. For a 500 a 600 is ok. I wouldnt go above a 100 words over.
