For V tech the personal statements are no more than 250 words. I sent my paper application yesterday ( I'm part of a CPP participant which is why I had to paper app.)My essays though are all little bit over 250 like 265ish and one of them is 290. I wrote 3 essays got it proof read and fixed it a lot of times making it good as possible for all 3 of them. And when the V tech representative of admission came to our school to give presentation he said it doesn't really matter that much(word count) since we don't count every word. Is this true?

They may notice the 290, but probably not the 265. They have a good grasp of what 250 “feels like” in terms of length after reading so many apps.

If the person was truly an Admissions rep from the college (and not an alumni person just helping out because they are local), then I would believe him/her and you are fine.

It depends with the college. Some word counts do not include ‘a’ and ‘i’ and other such words in their word count
