I've been thinking a lot about what my college essay should be on and I think I have come up with a topic but I'm not sure if it is too sterotypical or not. Last march there was a shooting at my school and I was thinking about writing about my experience during the shooting and how it affected by relationship with God.. is that good or not?

If you want to the admissions officers to better understand how your relationship with god has changed than this could definitely be a good route to go. This type of essay might be perfect if you are focusing on primarily religious affiliated schools. Otherwise, it may not behoove you to make your theme so religiously focused in such a way; perhaps tweak it to show how the shooting changed your relationship with god which further went on to improve/change your life in this way or that.
