college essay

it says 250-500 words mine is like 800 is that too much????...also on the common app it has one essay and than another 150 word essay about the most important EC i wrote about an EC for the main essay therefore am i compelled to write about it in the 150 short essay i mean it was a great thing but i dont want to feel repetivie and i could talk about some other experiences.

I think 800 words it too long. You might want to start chopping. And I definitely wouldn't write about the same EC in the second essay.

thanks for the help

800 is way too long. They asked for 200-500? What is unclear? I wouldn't go over 500 at all because 200 is fine for them. 800 means you aren't following the instructions and the focus of your essay is all off. They want it distilled.

Sames goes for the Short v. long on the common. If they specifically ask about the most important EC. So do that. Therefore, you long one should be a REallyREALLY different take on it, or about an entirely different subject (preferable.)

That's just my opinion.

i already wrote my long one on my EC but should i write the short one on it becuase they ask for the most important...or should i start it out like ALthugh i would have liked to write about .......for both essays i am choosing a different ec for the sake of repetition......would it be advisable to talk about a sport even tho it reccomends not to?

Well, if it recommends not to, why would you go against their recommendation? I would advise that you write a new essay for the long prompt. I know you already have one written, but if you're going to submit a paper that was 800 words before you chopped it to shreds, it probably won't be quite as good as a 500-word essay that is complete at that length.

don't be mainstream.
guidelines are guidelines.
if u write something long and they dont wanna read it, why apply?

Write. Write the best u can.

be it 10 pages or a book. just write the best u can.

dont be mainstream and stop worrying about the rules.
