can you do more than one essay topic or is it just limited to one

There is a personal statement and then there are smaller essays on other topics which are non-optional (meaning no choices). One such topic is 'Why do you want to study in our college?'

on the common app there is a personaly essay and they give differnet choices..i was wondering if we could do more than one

also on the harvard supplement there are the additional essays and suggested topics..i was wondering if we could do more than one as well

If there is one additional topic to choose from, I'd suggest ONE essay; not a multitude.

Read the instructions carefully. Do exactly the number of essays they request. No more, no less.

ok thanks. it said "an essay" so I'm guessing it's limited to one. Also, another question..I heard some people put photos of themselves in their college apps. Will it help convey more of a personal statement to the admission officers or would it just annoy them?

bump.........

Certain ones ask for it. If they don't, then don't, unless the photo is absolutely hilarious OR if you are applying for photography...

If you can think of a better use for "the box" on Caltech's application, do that instead of putting in a picture of yourself...

whats "the box"?

Essay #3 on Caltech's application: a big blank box that they ask you to fill "with something you think is interesting"...
