<p>Whenever you have time, there’s no reason to wait.</p>
<p>Yeah, I would start thinking of ideas in your free time. That is, unless you have no idea what the essay topic for the particular college is going to be (but that’s highly unlikely).</p>
<p>The CA has a preview of their 2010/11 application and the essays have not changed. Might as well start work on those, as well as the short essay on your ECs and any others that have stayed the same over the years.</p>
<p>The earlier the better. I remember that I had to write about 7-8 essays in the span of a week, and my entire winter break was definitely spent completing apps. Don’t be me haha!</p>

<p>I’ve already got my idea down, and I have a few starting paragraphs, but not the entire thing. I plan to have some sort of draft finished by when school rolls around. It is definitely a good idea to AT LEAST start brainstorming. You don’t have to have a perfect completed masterpiece by the end of the summer though.</p>
