Hi! So I’m a current college freshman planning on taking next semester off to sort of figure things out and do some work. Like community theater, training, etc.
For this semester, would it be ok if I didn’t do any ec’s? Obviously no one can say but I was just wondering in general how would this seem. I’m not sure how college ec’s are even looked at, but since I’m only planning on being here for one semester there’s not much opportunity in clubs as such, and most require you to pay money to join and more interesting opportunities like auditioning happen next semester. So I am more interested in trying for a four point oh gpa and learning as much ash I can from my classes and such, is no ec’s going to look bad if I am only here for a semester?
Job and school (e.g. research) related EC’s will benefit your for future work and grad school. They certainly don’t need to be contiguous.
That’s a good point, thanks so much. Does anyone know more specifically the impact this has on college apps for transfers though?
Please and thanks!
GPA and recommendations generally matter a lot more than EC’s. How important EC’s are depends a lot on where you are applying to and if they are relevant to your program of study. Your best bet is to contact the transfer office of your intended college(s) and ask.
@TooOld4School ok I see, yeah my gpa and professor relationships have been the focus. Thanks so much and have a wonderful week
