College financial aid

Hi,

My dad told me recently that unless I get a decent amount of financial aid, I won't be able to afford attending private colleges such as WashU, Duke, Northwestern, Carnegie, etc.

So is it likely for a family with around a 200k income to get a decent amount of financial aid?
I also got into UCSD and UCLA; do these schools also offer financial aid to people like me?

thanks

No. It is extremely unlikely you will get need based aid at any school. Even the most generous private schools, like Harvard, that give need based aid to fairly high income families have income cut offs well below $200,000.

If you don’t want to attend your state schools, you could look for merit aid. Give us your stats (GPA, SAT) and we can suggest schools.
