College Football Discussion 07

^ Congrats to the Vols. I'm sure you guys were happy Cal didn't have a 4th quarter collapse to Colorado State.

Looks like BC is finally getting some recognition. The matchup against Georgia Tech should be one of the better games of next weekend.

...and Washington. Pac-10 had a good day today...

Except for Oregon St. getting pasted by Cincy.

Auburn is notorious for starting the season badly. Once the season is in full swing, they will be one of the better teams in the nation.

Let’s not make excuses for the SEC – besides, the USF kicker missed some makeable FGs.

And VTech, like UM, was overrated from the start.

I'm not making excuses. Just a historical observation on Auburn. They lost the game fair and square.

Who cares if VTech was overrated (according to you), they were ranked #9. Period.

And how much validity do pre-season rankings have?

Mind you, this is a VT team that struggled mightily against E. Carolina.

Overrated or not, that VT defense wasn't supposed to give up 48 points.

LSU is clearly the best team in the nation.

Now I have to try to get through this week of work knowing that the biggest game to hit Lincoln in years is on Saturday. Can't wait to get done with clinic Friday so I can make my way there!

^ Go Big Red! Beat the Prophylactics!

Agreed with the above. Down with U$C!

Yeah..except that USC will be VICTORIOUS!

Yeah, Nebraska sucked big time against an ACC midling last week; expect Big Red to get a Big Ass Kicking on Saturday.

little cred - 17
PAC-10 Domination - 52

USC is 5-0 in road openers since 2002. Just saying. :)

West Virginia @ Maryland tonight
what about that game?

VT has a very good (tho not great D).

And the VT D giving up 48 pts to a what appears to be a dominating LSU O is partially a reflection of VT's crappy O (which only scored 10 pts against E. Carolina the week before).

Since VT's O was so inept, VT's D spent way to much time on the field and quickly wore down.

Rutgers is up 38-0 in the first half to a terrible Norfolk State team.

ND is pathetic
Florida is winning
Washington is beating OSU at half

Kentucky beats Louisville!

the florida game was awesome...tim tebow is the real deal
"Who said he couldn't pass? Tebow had three passes that went for 40-plus yards Saturday, giving him seven for the season. The Gators had four as a team last year." -espn.com

poor notre dame and auburn...and UCF was so close to upsetting texas

Florida was great today, very impressive! A 59-20 thrashing of the Vols, a ranked opponent and a rivalry game. I had my doubts on Florida this season, but after this game, it is quite possible that they can make another title run, if they can get past LSU.

The ranking should go like this:

LSU

USC

Florida

And there really isn't much of a gap between the three, these teams are simply in a league of their own in college football.

Huh-uh (10 char)

mmm Oklahoma is looking pretty strong as well. It should be:

1a) USC
1b) LSU
3) Florida
4) Oklahoma
5) UCLA - just kidding =P

But yeah, I went to the Cal game today (Go Bears!), then hopped over to Stanford to see their game with my brother. They actually WON A GAME AT HOME *** (37-0)?!?!?!

So in person, USC was impressive - at least their rushing defense. Nebraska refused to tackle most of the game, especially the third quarter, and USC got some lucky breaks (should have lost three fumbles...I don't understand how a guy can fumble the kickoff return, and another guys picks it up for another 40 yards...but I digress). That USC guy getting hurt and having to be taken off on a stretcher really killed the crowd/atmosphere.

Just like last year, Nebraska demonstrated the blueprint for how to beat USC - last year it was run the ball, this year it's 3 and 5 step drops and intermediate passing. A team gets some luck with it, forces a couple turnovers and follows that plan and it'll happen, USC will lose.

LSU, Florida and OU are certainly looking the best right now, and I'd put USC at 4. Nebraska pretty much handed that game to the Trojans with **** poor tackling.
