College Football Discussion 07

That’s pretty much it right now, although I’d put Oklahoma at 4 for sure…Cal should be 5 because West Virginia’s defense is very beatable. Outside the top 4, there is nobody in their league right now, and I think the Golden Bears really won’t go anywhere in the Top 5 the rest of the year unless we beat USC or one of the Top 4 fall off somewhere.

The only break USC got was playing another mediocre Big-12 team. Face it, outside of Oklahoma and Texas, the whole conference is a joke (and Texas is suspect anyway).

And good God Wisconsin is the next Big-10 team that is going to be embarrassed, how does a top 10 defense give up 31 to The Citadel at home?! HA!

my school ucla got humiliated by utah!

what an insult to my school!

Definately :
1- LSU (cuz im SEC biased)
2- UF (cuz im a gator)
3- USC (ill give them a little love)
4- OU (lookin pretty good)
The thing that im most pleased with is Kentucky beating Louisville. I am probably the biggest Big East Hater EVER. I can’t stand that conference, they shouldnt be BCS. But since Kentucky won, Louisville cant go undefeated, then Louisville can beat WVU, which means my wish will come true- a big east team wont be in the running for the champ game

Players of the Week
Timmy Tebow (UF)- yes he can pass the ball
Andre Woodson (UK)- hes a legit qb

Teams of the Week
UCF- very good showing, they are on the rise
Miss St.- good for you guys, your biggest win since beating the gators a couple years ago.

Bonehead Teams of the Week
ND- three letters w-t-f
Arkansas- wow, lets pass the ball on third down in stead of running the ball and letting time come off the clock…sigh

Team to watch next week
Michican, if you can beat penn st, you might actually gain a little respect, but still won’t be ranked

I have to admit, I also used to dispise the Big East and their overrated teams, but the reason why I can now justify their BCS bowl bid is because the ACC has drastically and shockingly fallen off so badly. Good God, I hate the Big East because they pimp themselves and their overrated teams, but I hate the ACC even more because they suck and are not supposed to! Boston College is supposedly the best team now that they beat Georgia Tech? Goodness gracious.

Big East isn’t that bad.

WVU
Rutgers
USF
Louisville

Ok so thats four teams…the SEC East has more quality teams…Florida, UGA, Tenn, South Carolina, Kentucky. So if WVU is 12-0, USC 12-0 and UF is 12-1, who goes to the champ game? The answer should be easy.

Not to rain on your parade, but what’s so great? They may have good records but you have too look at the teams they actually play. The SEC team with a hard schedule is South Carolina, and to a lesser degree Florida. The others have been playing no-name cupcakes until *now/i… not to mention Tenn isn’t even in the top 25 this week. Didn’t they get whipped by California their first game, not to mention Florida?

Playing and winning against Kent State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Western Carolina does not a “quality” team make. I know people like to boast about the SEC and of course they’re good, but who’s sure if they’re really that great. Time will tell. Tenn, Georgia and Florida will have a harder schedule as the season continues and will prove themselves… or not.

The teams to watch are the Trojans, the Gators, the Tigers and the Sooners. I’m looking forward to the LSU-Florida game in three weeks the most. USC-LSU in the championship game will be pretty amazing. Trojans are going to have a tough schedule though, who knows if they’ll get that far.

I’m at BC right now and I’m surprised they jumped up in the rankings so much after beating GT. Even though they did win by 2 touchdowns and held GT to 10 points, I still think they should be at 16 or 17 rather than 14. Even I know that the ACC is not even close to being a great conference.

You’re right, but those 4 teams have atrocious schedules (kudos to South Florida though for having the ■■■■■■■ to play a SEC team not named and as perenially bad as Kentucky).

Like I said, there has to be at least ONE good team in the god forsaken ACC.

Me, I’m just wondering what record Notre Dame will have when USC visits - they play Michigan State(3-0), Purdue(3-0), UCLA(2-1), and Boston College(3-0) beforehand.

Otherwise, it seems to be pretty clear that, barring any upsets, it’ll be USC vs (winner of LSU vs Florida) next January.

Um…So Syracuses basically suck ass this yr…and i go there…so it sucks even more…i can’t wait until basketball season.

NIU is 0-3, but we have Demetrius Jones for next season!

Michigan beat Penn State; is this the same team that lost to Appalachian State & Oregon? I can’t decide whether this team is good or not.

There are a lot of teams that it’s hard to tell if they’re good or not…

Really, with the exception of LSU and Oklahoma, there have a been many teams that have shown major flaws. I’m not sold on USC’s secondary after the Nebraska game, Florida had way more problems with Ole Miss than they should have (but that’s the SEC, and I do love the Orgeron), WVU hasn’t played anyone, the PSU-Mich and Wisconsin - Iowa games showed just how down (read overrated) the Big 10 is this year…

For all the hype Louisville got this year, we saw what happened to them.
Texas hasn’t looked any good at all at times.

Overall a very weird year thus far.

^ Oklahoma hasn’t played anyone either. And Cal can’t tackle and gets a penalty every other play. It’s been a good, zany year for college football so far =P

Rutgers in now top 10 in the nation

The ref for the Cal/Arizona game was awful. It was his first game officiating as a ref. I suggest he get some new glasses. Pac-10 officiating is the worst.

^ Amen, I have yet to go to a Pac-10 game with decent refereeing. It is kinda funny though when the crowd is chanting “bullsh**” and the players and coaches are waving their arms to get us to yell it louder. And “■■■■■” as well, my new favorite chant - no one punts to Desean (although he got murdered on that 1 punt return yesterday)

I think Miami qualifies as a someone. I’ve been really impressed with the Hurricanes, and Oklahoma destroyed them with nary a blink of an eye.

Yeah, but Oklahoma got burned for 400 yards by Tulsa, mostly through the air. If USC’s secondary is suspect from their game against a ranked team that can also rush (Lucky), then certainly Oklahoma’s is more suspect since Tulsa’s offense can pretty much only play that quick passing game.

I’m not saying Oklahoma’s not great, but are they the #3 team? I would put it now at:

 1. USC
 2. Florida
 3. LSU
 4. Oklahoma
 5. Cal
