Can’t really get anywhere better than a CC with a 2.3 GPA. He should go to a good CC, maintain a 3.5+ GPA and then transfer to a university worthy of his mighty ego!

i have a friend like that too… well sort of.. hes one of those hidden lazy geniuses that do nothiing in class and just draws or talks all the time. he got a 2350 first time without any study… sleeps in calculus but gets A’s on the tests but does no hw, smokes pot, drinks, plays guitar hero and super smash all day, listens to rock music, etc…

I have a nephew like this friend of yours. Great guy. Really, really smart. A’s in physics and math, D’s in English, biology, and any class that bored him or where he decided he hated the teacher. ACTs in the 30s. Tried community college twice. Dropped out both times. Worked at several low wage jobs. Wanted to marry his HS sweetheart who was finishing up her AA at the community college and preparing to transfer to the state U. Looked at his life and realized that he needed to Grow Up and get Self Disciplined. Joined the USMarines. Married the girl. They are Unbelievably Happy together. My nephew is Unbelievably Happy in the Marines. Family is a bit freaked as he heads off this month for another tour in Iraq, but the kid is still Unbelivably Happy! He’s got an office job this time around because, guess what, his commanding officers figured out that he is SMART, and has become more Organized and Self Disciplined. He’s talking about going back to college on Uncle Sam’s nickel and becoming an officer.

I’m not saying this is the route your pal should take (especially since I know his mom would probably just totally freak like my sister did), but it is an option. Until he is ready to buckle down and study, he’s not going to succeed in college anywhere.
