college for undergrad comp.science ?

My child got admission in Cal poly Pomona and also at RPI, NY for B.S in comp Science . We are based in LA county and are trying to decide which is good option for us.
Any input please? We know RPI is great school with national ranking, how does Cal Poly Pomona rank in comparison?

The main reason RPI has a national ranking in computer science than Cal Poly is because they have more of a graduate school. I know RPI is strong in games and video. Cal Poly may have its own strengths and weaknesses. Of course, the locations are quite different. Has your child visited RPI yet? I’d guess it wouldn’t be the easiest place to get to from CA. No direct flights for sure.

CalPoly SLO has an excellent reputation in computer scinece. I frankly don’t know how different in the offerings or perception CalPoly Pomona is vs SLO. One factor ot consider is where your S would like to work when done. There may be more opportunities within California at Cal Poly vs RPI simply due to where it’s located and more Calif companies interviewing onsite and the convenience for internships, etc.
