Last year, when I was HS senior & applied for colleges by the end of Dec 2014, I was advised to file FAFSA(even if estimated) as soon as possible after the 1st of the year as they run out of the aid. Now I’m a First year college student. I was not eligible for federal loan, only work study.
Do I still have to file FAFSA? My school uses CSS. If yes, do I have to file FAFSA as soon as possible or I can file FAFSA when my parents file taxes?
First, you should have likely been eligible for a loan, all students are who meet basic criteria like being a US citizen and if you are full time student. And it isn’t income based. Do you still want one and do you know why you didn’t qualify?
Fafsa has to be filed every year for ant federal aid, including work study. Some schools don’t need the cs profile again, just the one time is fine. Check with your school.
Sorry, I was eligible for loans but we didn’t take it. The only thing I’m using is work study. when do I have to file FAFSA if I am college Freshman.
Collegebound…no way we can answer your question without knowing YOUR college. Go on the college website. Look in the financial aid section. Look for applying for aid. Look for CURRENT STUDENTS. Do what it says.
