whats your #1 favorite thing about college so far?

the freedom I have. I went to a pretty strict prep school and we had study hall, lights out, saturday classes, scheduled meal times, little free time, etc.

college is awesome and i love it so far

omg I couldn’t imagine that (ur prep school rules)
&yeah, im looking foward 2 the freedom, i thought ppl would say that

No one needs to act like they give a **** about me anymore.

I’m away from my parents.

Freedom and social life.

freedom for sure

I’m learning for a reason and a goal now.

The independence and freedom, for sure.

I’m a senior in college but this definitely nailed it. I had the exact same story (boarding school, lights out, dress code, sat class etc) and the first thing I noticed when I got to college was the crazy feeling of freedom.

I didn’t have to tell anyone, nobody cared and I couldn’t get in trouble if I: went out late at night, stayed up all night, hung out in girls’ rooms, slept over in girls’ rooms, showed up to class in shorts and a t-shirt. I was high on freedom for at least the first few weeks of school.

Wow, I’m actually enjoying the company the most. I basically lived on my own throughout hs (parents lived away for work and hospitals), so it occasionally got very lonely. I actually have less freedom at school because I had absolutely no rules at home lol.

There is public transportation where I go to college. There isn’t any in my hometown. I’m amazed & love it.

as a sophomore, it was definitely the friends I made that made me love college. I loved the (intellectual and social) freedom as well, but from day 1 in college I had an awesome group of friends to do all sorts of things with and form all sorts of memories (something I really didn’t have in high school- then, i had a few friends here and there but not a family of friends to call my own).

I have unlimited freedom wherever I go (home, college, with friends, with parents, etc.)
So I was used to that and didn’t go crazy about the sudden liberation.

I would say my favorite part of college would be the abundant time I have to mature and come to a self-acctualization in the context of modern society.

I feel myself coming to a philosophical apex at college. It’s not the work and memorization I feel that benefits my growing; it’s the knowledge of social interaction, how people work and how I can learn about myself via such observations.

In layman’s terms, I enjoy learning how to pick up women.

I also have a wonderful girlfriend who makes me feel right at home, a cure for my home-sickness :-).

I also appreciate alternative life-styles that I take on. I feel less responsible to other people’s opinions.

Basically, I don’t judge people anymore. I’m becoming a better person for it :-)

In conclusion, I appreciate becoming a better person.

I get to pick my courses.

freedom to do nearly whatever I want

the people and friends I’ve made

Freedom is a huge one for me, but my favourite part of college has to be the free time. I hated the solid block of 7-8 hours I would put in every day in high school. At university, I can actually schedule my classes to give myself breaks in the day to get stuff done. In high school I had 75-minute classes and seemingly pointless homework assignments every day. Having 50-minute classes and less homework (but more reading and a few papers) has definitely been a nice change.

Being forced to leap new bounds.

More free time, lack of parents nagging you to study/do hw.
