I'm a high school junior and I was looking into what schools I wanted to apply to. My school has a Communication Arts Program that I got into which has a humanities focus. Some of the ideas I have of what to study are International Relations (first choice), Journalism or Business Management. I have schools in mind, but bringing up my GPA is the first priority for me. What schools have a good international relations program?

Current GPA: 3.0
Weighted GPA: 3.6

Schools I'm thinking of:
University of Maryland
University of Maryland Baltimore College
Salisbury University
George Mason University

Reach Schools: Georgetown University
Syracuse University

have you ever taken a practice SAT yet? if so a projection of ur score would be very helpful (and honestly will make all the difference in which colleges ur looking at applying, considering ur average)

i can’t really offer any schools without knowing anything else

actually, if you do plan on business, you definitely should be applying to the kelley school of business at U Indiana - Bloomington. The school isnt that tough to get into (although it may be another story for business majors) and is nationally recognized for its business programs. i’m tlaking people in business WILL notice an indiana bloomington degree in business

I’ve taken the Practice SAT score with my score being decent, but Im aiming for a 2100 on the SAT. My first choice to study is probably International Relations, business is something I haven’t looked into as much to be honest. I hope to end the year off in an upward trend and a higher average GPA.

I see nothing wrong with your gpa. Get a 1900+ an your good.2000+ will guarantee your acceptance given you improve as you go along in high school (don’t let your grades drop.) and have good essays, recs and ecs :)

yeah im worried about the improvement factor since my GPA started off higher and slowly went down. So I have to go on an upwards trend to finish off high school.

Downward trend is very bad…I hope you can stop that.
You should be in at all of them except University of Maryland…your GPA is too low for that but if you actually receive a 2100 on the SAT, then thats another story.

Your GPA + a downward trend will make Maryland hard to get into and Georgetown/Syracuse practically impossible. Update everybody one you take the SAT.

yeah I’ll stop the trend. A lot of people are telling me that I have a chance at UMD because of the program I’m in, but yeah though I will definitely bring my GPA up as high as possible. And the SAT goal is 2100 atleast

I’m taking this year:
CAP AP Lang and Composition
CAP AP World History
CAP Research Seminar
AP Biology DP
Engineering
French 5
Precalculus

Next Year:
CAP Guided Research
Honors English 12
AP Psychology
AP Comparative Government
AP French Lang
International Human Rights
Media in Society
Calculus

After 12th grade, I will graduate from the Communication Arts Program with a portfolio of my work.

Syracuse will NOT be hard to get into. Hold your horses. Maybe Georgetown and Maryland. Listen, you need to improve. It’s not too late! And if you have a legit reason for the dip in your grades, make sure you make it known!
