Hi, I am currently in the process of doing my application to transfer out of a cc and into a university. I'm really confused about calculating my GPA in that I failed a class last semester and I am retaking it this semester. How am I suppose to calculate my GPA? Do I just leave the failed grade out since I'm retaking it this semester and put in that the class is in progress? Or am I suppose to leave it? I noticed that my GPA would be higher if I were to not include it.

It is in your GPA until grades for the current semester are available. Then, it depends upon your school. Some schools will drop the failed grade from the GPA (but still list the failed class on your transcript), and some will not. Talk to your Registrar Office.

Also, how the new college calculates your GPA is up to their policy.
