College GPA question

I wonder if anyone knows the "correct" answer to the following:
Suppose you go to a college where some, but not all, professors award an A+ for "superior" work. Suppose, in the college's calculation of the GPA, an A+ is counted as 4.3 (on a 4-point scale). Suppose the student has received some A+'s during the college career, and the overall GPA is 3.9 (counting 4.3 for A+, 4.0 for A, 3.7 for A-, 3.3 for B+, etc.). Assume the student wants to list the GPA on the C.V. or resume. Should the student just list 3.9? Should the student say 3.9/4.0? The latter doesn't seem quite correct, since it's really out of 4.3, but on the other hand, not all classes awards A+'s, so it really isn't out of 4.3 either. What would you put, if you were this student?

3.9 is fine just the way it is. If you go to one of the rare colleges that use a 5.0 scale, however, I think I’d clarify it (using a 4.6/5.0 for example).
