Please tell me our first year of senior year is counted in our cumalative GPA! I screwed up and my GPA is low, i need that extra semester! At least for CSUs is that what they do? Besides the CSUs I'll be applying to Oregon and ASU. I live in Cali. I was doing my projected GPA and through my 1st semester of senior year it'd be a 2.7, but without its a 2.48. Please tell me the senior year means somethng besides not getting rescinded.

I think the CSU's do. What are your SAT scores? What CSU's did you apply to?

You are going to have a hard time getting into Oregon and ASU if you have low SAT scores.

I'm thinking my SATs will be around 1300. I'm a junior, we can take as many SATs as we want and send in our best scores right? I'm thinking I may score a SAT score of around 1200 for my first go in June. CSUs do not count the writing. I'll be applying to these colleges, this is in order from my most liked to worst:

SDSU
Oregon
ASU
Chico
Fullerton
SFSU (I'm from San Fracisco)

That GPA is gonna give you a really hard time getting into SDSU. The average GPA there is now around 3.7.

Ya, its a 3.5 average but it is inflated since many people apply there as safeteys and many go there with real high GPAs since its SD. I did the admissions calculator and it looks like I'd be on the borderline with getting in. I'd love to go there, I 'd like to take part i ntheir special sports MBA with the padres and do some coaching with a high school, also love their gym.. and girls.

If you get 1300 (out of 1600), I'm pretty sure that you'll get into all of them. Surprising, SDSU has become a lot more difficult to get into this year. If you had a 3.0, I'd say you're definitely in. The people I know who have gotten in had a 3.5+ and about 1200 on their SAT.

Just a little info on those colleges

I'm guessing you're a business major because all of these colleges have good business programs.

SDSU- good for business, especially international business. Frat scene is huge (which can be a bad thing if you aren’t in a frat. School is very big.
Oregon- where I'm most likely going next year. :) Beautiful campus, great sports team, really nice town, and their new business building is amazing. On the downside, OOS tuition is about $18.5 K
ASU- huge school, very hot girls, business school is difficult to get into (think 3.5+ college GPA). Tempe is a great college town.
Chico- great party school, business program is solid. The town of Chico is a true college town.
Fullerton- commuter school, has a good business program.
SFSU- the school kind of sucks. Not very nice, not in the greatest part of SF.

Have you been to all of these schools? Surprising, I applied to and have visited all of them, except SFSU (but I have been there). Don’t overlook Chico, you’ll have a great college experience there. Here’s how I’d rank them.

Oregon
SDSU
Chico
ASU- way too big for me
Fullerton- because it’s a commuter school.
SFSU

I have not been to any of them. I've seen SFSU since I live by there. SDSU is a commuter school I know. 18.5 K, ouch, maybe financial aid could help that? i dont know the requirements of that tho. I may take out SFSU. Many of my friends plan on going to Chico, so i could wind up there. I'd say for me that ASU and Chico are very close in ranking. Do these colleges look if you improved ur junior and senior year? Are there any other colleges i should look into?

I'd wait to see where you get in first, then visit the colleges.

ASU is really enormous and it's easy to get lost there. Chico is much more manageable. I personally don’t think it’s worth paying the out of state tuition for ASU unless you are in the honors program or are admitted into the business program directly out of high school. You should still apply there though.

You may get some financial aid and with a really good SAT you might get merit aid. ASU is about 15 k for out of state tuition.

You have a pretty good list. You should add University of Arizona to your list. Upward grade trend definitely looks good, though I think junior year is the most important year of high school. Focus on your school work and study hard for the SATs.
