College GPA

I'm going to Grinnell College, which doesn't have the best name recognition but regardless, is a top ranked liberal arts college. However, alums and current students have told me that GPA is very hard to keep high. My friend said a 3.5 is pretty good. I think that ranks around the low end of med school, but I'm not sure about others. I mean, a 3.2 at MIT and Harvard sounds pretty understandable... but from Grinnell?

I've been told that test scores on MCATs, LSATs, and GMATs are higher, though. But I just wonder if grad schools will even know about the rigor of Grinnell's program or if they are just biased towards bigger names like U of Chicago and Vanderbilt in considering GPA deflation. Can anybody give any input on how top ranked, semi-obscure LACs are known in professional and grad school circles?

Everyone, in the realm of academia, knows what Grinnell is. Grinnell is one of the schools with the highest percentage yield of students that go onto graduate school, so I am guessing that grad school admissions people are familiar with Grinnell and its course load.

Academics are familiar with Grinnell’s quality, demanding education. Don’t fret about it.
