college grades based on score?

My english teacher told me today that all schools that take AP credit put an "A" on your transcript if you make a 5, "B" for a 4, "C" for a 3. I always thought that the colleges just give you credit without a grade if you make a score of 3 or above (I realize that some schools do not accept 3's).

Can anyone clarify?

I know that my college actually offered me an “A” for earning a 4 on the AP Calculus AB exam, and offered just credit for earning a 3.

So some schools have offered grades in addition to the credit at one point. But I’m pretty sure that not all colleges do so.

bump .
