College Grads Buried in Student Loan Debt, but Unwilling to Give Up Luxuries

Literally look at the first page. And I am not saying everyone is saying this. My use of “people” is not a blanket statement for “everyone”, as in please don’t take it personally.

Congrats to you for going back to try and get an education, @Topolover. I know many who wish they could do the same, including my mother. She just doesn’t have the time.

Oh geez I’m sorry, I almost came close to whining about time there, didn’t I? Guess I should turn my whine-a-matic down a notch.

Wow I can tell you a story on this topic, but I won’t bore you with all the details. lol

But yes, I can personally vouch for watching this train wreck first hand. When picking a school, there was no regard for cost. When discovering the financial aid packages were mostly filled with school loans, again no regard. When running out of Stafford loans and Pell Grants, there was no regard. When private loans were pushing the bill close to $100k, there was no regard. And now it’s time for grad school…

Schools gloss over the how hard it will be as a young adult to payback a bill that is as big as a house mortgage, while you are trying to also pay for a house mortgage. On top of this, you see the reports on how these schools give the biggest return on investment. There is a lot of social engineering going on and teenage kids are very naive when they are told that you must “live your dream” and “don’t sacrifice your future” etc…
