I wish that it had been hot when we went to my nephew’s grad ceremony at Rice. It was pouring so they had the ceremony inside and most of us had to watch it from TVs scattered around campus. Nobody seemed to know what was going on. Each grad was supposed to have one or two tickets for his or her parents to be at the actual ceremony but they started letting people in without tickets so that my nephew’s Mom and Dad were almost shut out of the ceremony. All worked out fine in the end and the commencement speaker was great. (The guy who founded microlending.)

Here’s a hint…get your reservation for a limited mobility chair early. Waiting until G-pa gets there is too late. You’ll have to chase all over town for one. Personal experience…

D1 is responsible for her school’s senior week entertainment (a class size of over 3000), so needless to say she is a party planner at heart. We are just going to be where she wants us to be. So far she has hired a caterer for a barbecue for her friends and families at where we are staying, a brunch after the graduation, and I think she is trying to organize a wine tasting (tour) for family and friends. With all the events she is planning, the graduation ceremony is something we must try to fit into.

S1’s grad. weekend included four events. Three of the four required our attendance. So we skipped the fourth which was the big university graduation. S1 had no desire to attend the big one so it wasn’t a big deal.
