College guidance/tips needed

Hey CC,
Well, I’m currently a freshman at my high school. My classes are

Pre-Calc Honors

English 1 Honors

Chem AP

Physical Education

Spanish 1

The Chem AP and Pre-Calculus are filled with juniors, seniors, and a few sophomores. I took the PSAT this year and got a 186 (give or take a few numbers. I’ll check later on). I know it’s a little early for me to be interested in college but I can’t help myself . I am extremely interested in computers but my dream has to be a lawyer or a doctor. My GPA is 3.40 UWA and a 3.840 WA. I’m currently studying hard for my AP test and I have an A in precalc, Spanish and journalism, B in chemistry, and I don’t know what I have in English. Can you give me any suggestions? as to like what i should do? any guidance? i'm definitely going to join Science Bowl / Science Olympiad, and try to get control of math club :D but other than that i'm clueless.

I’ve read various stickies and threads so I am under the impression that when you try to do your EC's, its better to focus in a certain range of EC. Like you should not be that much ranged out/versatile.

I'm also thinking about joining the newspaper or the yearbook.

so if its tl;dr, i need some tips, if any, on my future high school life.
:D thank youu

Smile, I would just continue to take challenging courses and stay on track. The other thing you may want to do is to start to get involved with some community service programs/events, etc. Also, are you taking any social studies courses?

Find things you love and throw yourself into them with all your enthusiasm. The best college resume is filled with things that you did for reasons other than building a college resume.

Well i had to take health. i could've taken it over the summer but i did other things. i'm taking AP European history next year.
Also, is versatility really needed? so can i just focus on a few things

Precal Honor in freshman year ???
Don't you have to take Alg and Geo before ???

i took it in during middle school

Smile, it is okay to be versatile. In fact, colleges look highly upon students who have a wide range of interests. It's okay to get involved in half a dozen ECs -- just keep in mind that you should get seriously involved in two, three, maybe even four. You're clearly very capable in math and the sciences, so maybe get involved in one non-math/science activity to show that you can be very successful in more than one area.
