I heard that in buying a college guide, it is best to buy two: one from an administrative/bipartisan viewpoint and one from a student's viewpoint. I have already decided on Students' Guide to Colleges: The Definitive Guide to America's Top 100 SchoolsWritten by the Real Experts--the Students Who Attend Them . However, I'm wondering if the Fiske guide or PR guide is better. I'm not even sure such a guide is neccessary, because most of the information seems to be able to be found on the college's websites as well as on here, but I'd like rankings of different ug departments and.. whatnot. Any suggestions?

I feel like I get more when I hear from the student's point of view. I mean, the admins are obviously promoting their school, but most of the time, the students tell it like it is. So if I were to buy one or the other, I'd also choose the one you already chose. I think you're right in saying that most basic information can be easily found off of websites these days.

Yeah. I definately agree, but I'm questioning whether I should buy two: both the student's perspective and the admins perspective, and if I should buy both, whether fiske or pr is better for the admins perspective.

bumpity bump :)

US News Best Colleges, Fiske Guide, Princeton Review are good. I would buy all three. Guides based on student reviews may or may not be valid. Good students love their school. Bad students hate their school.

Fiske Guide, definatly. It's way better than PR...!

ive got fiske guide and it has really helped me. id definitely recommend it.
