College help PLEASE

I'm in high school trying to figure out which college to attend. I'm very interested in accounting and would like to be working at the big 4 some day. I live in Indiana and was originally choosing between Purdue and Indiana University. Both are very good business school and both are recruited by accounting firms in indianapolis (Delliote and E&Y). I can jus really see myself fitting in at purdue and at Purdue it would be very easy to get a double major in Accounting and Management which i think would help set me apart? My plan right now is to attend Purdue for a undergrad and then to attend a more prestigous school for a Masters in Accountancy. I am also considering DePaul for an undergrad but the cost is more than double.

Does anyone have any thoughts or am i just worrying too much because purdue is AACSB accredited for business but not accounting where IU and Depaul are for both? Any post would be very appreciated.

If you want to stand out, pick up a minor in physics or math.

go with IU , according to that “everything you wanted to know” thread you should go to an AACSB accredited school

You definitely should go to an AACSB accredited school. Accounting is largely based on rules, and the education process to becoming an accountant is as well.

It doesn’t hurt that IU Kelley has a very good accounting program: [Undergraduate business specialties: Accounting - Best Colleges - Education - US News and World Report](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/spec-accounting)
I don’t know the specifics, but most good accounting programs offer a program where you can get a master’s degree in 5 years because you need 150 hours to sit for the CPA exam.

A double major really won’t do a lot to make you stand out, especially if it is just in management. Though you would be better served doing a minor in math, the best thing would be good work experience and extra curriculars.

yea as @openedskittles said most schools should offer the 5 year BA/MPA accounting program, if accounting is what you want to do / that is your best option

IU has a pretty good accounting program (I am a finance and accounting double major here). They offer a five year accounting MBA program (graduate undergrad in 3 years, then 2 years of MBA in either accounting or financial analysis). Some people want to save money and graduate in 4 years with the 150 cr. Other people want to do a regular undergrad and 1 year masters for the 150cr.

There is a lot of recruitment here as well (mostly for the Indy/Chicago offices, but there are other offices recruiting as well). Next to BAML, the big 4 recruit the most students at the business school. A surprisingly large percentage go into TAS.

I just really don’t know if I could see myself at iu. And i thought it only really mattered if the business school in general was aacsb accredited. I’ve always wanted to go to purdue but these forums have just scared me. As far as job outlook goes, would going to Kelley as opposed to Krannert really matter if I get good grades? I’d like to get an undergrad at a different college than a masters in accounting so the 5 year track doesn’t matter.

And don’t act like a management degree is nothing. With a management degree u always have a focus/minor in finance or marketing for example. My dad went through management at purdue and makes a very good living.

Minor in either music or psychology, I heard the big 4 loves that.

The general AACSB accreditation is fine. I would pick the university you like since a good GPA at either schools would land you a job at the Big 4. What attracts you to the Purdue campus over the IU campus? Clearly IU’s campus is better.

Hahaha what makes u think iu’s campus is better? I’ve been a purdue fan my whole life and people from iu are ALWAYS cocky and arrogant. I want to be in a frat and I just think purdue in general is a better fit for me. Thanks for the posts.
