"College Hopes and Worries" survey reports on Parents & Students' Dream Schools

Someone passed this on to me, so hopefully there's not already a thread on this on CC!

Some interesting results from the survey:

Apparently the top dream school named by students is Stanford, while for parents it is Harvard.

67% said the economic downturn affected their app decisions.

Thank you for sharing this link. Based on the above, it was a completely self-selected survey among an already self-selected group - people who were already highly engaged in that they were reading a college guide, had bought a book, or were on the PR site. As a researcher, this tells me that the survey results are fairly meaningless and don’t provide any insight as to the dream schools and amount of stress for hs students in general. IOW, it doesn’t support that “most students’ dream school is S” or “most parents’ dream school is H.”

Excellent point Pizzagirl. They could have actually been correct if they had qualified the results based on the people who took the survey.
