College in Boston

ummm i don't know where the 32% number for BC came from but...

BC is out of the question for sure... 11% of applicants admitted... i had many friends with well over 4.00 UW GPAs and 32-33 acts that were rejected... but there is hope for BU... still a reach though

Not quite jagman. I think you are confusing % of applicants accepted with % of applicants who eventually enroll. BC generally has roughly 22,000 applicants and they have Freshman classes of roughly 2,200. So yes, the % of students who apply to BC who eventually enroll is indeed 10%. But since the yield rate at BC is about 35%, BC usually has to accept close to 7,000 of those 22,000 applicants to fill its Freshman class of 2,200.

Last year, 22,000 applied and 7,000 were accepted. That's roughly 32%.

Your mistake is actually very common. Many universities send out brochures that state how competitive they are by simply saying the number of students who apply for the number of seats availlable. They conveniently forget to say how many students they had to accept to fill up those seats! hehe

BC's acceptance rate is not 11%...

Tufts is a better school.

Not quite true, Alexandre. From BC's admissions website:

"Nearly 24,000 candidates honored Boston College with applications for 2,250 openings in our freshman class. We admitted 31% of them"
<a href="http://www.bc.edu/admission/undergrad/process/%5B/url%5D">http://www.bc.edu/admission/undergrad/process/</a></p>

My D and I actually just returned from BC's Accepted Eagle weekend and were both very impressed. Tufts was among her top choices, but I think she is now leaning towards Boston College. Of course this may change after we visit Tufts again when/if she is accepted.

"GPA: 3.49 UW
School Dosen't Rank
SAT(old): 1250"
Bobsaget- this SAT that you posted on the BU website is a better score than the 26 ACT that you are revealing here. Are you a junior or a senior? If you are a junior, and still have the application process ahead of you, you should retake both exams this spring to see if you can become a more competive candidate for the schools that you mentioned. If you are a senior...this speculation is a moot point because the deadlines have already passed.
