College Interview Attire?

I have an interview at Bryn Mawr on the 29th but I don't know what to wear. It's going to be at 1:30 with my information session at tour starting at about 2 or so. Please help!!! I really want to make sure I look nice as it is my top choice TT. Also should I curl my hair or leave it straight and makeup?

When you are a new poster, you should use the SEARCH feature for questions like this that have been discussed many times in the past. Then just post if you still have questions. How nice you want to dress is up to you. Maybe a step up from casual but not overly fancy. Best to wear something you are comfortable in and that makes you feel confident. For sure, no will care if you have makeup on or not, or how you decide to style your hair so do what will make you feel comfortable and confident and don’t do anything that you will have to fuss with or touch up during the day.

If you want to wear a little bit of makeup and do your hair in order to feel confident and put together, then by all means go for it. The most makeup that I personally would wear is some mascara, a little bit of tinted moisturizer and powder, some light pink blush, and a nice simple lipstick or lip stain or tinted lip balm (I wouldn’t really go for lipgloss.) If you leave your hair straight then you could just make sure that it’s smooth and maybe softly pin back the front pieces. If it doesn’t take too much time to curl your hair, then I don’t see why not if you want to feel and look your best.

For the outfit, make sure everything is ironed, pressed, clean, etc. You can never go wrong with a nice button-down, a black pencil skirt (NOT the short bandage ones, make sure it’s at least touching the knees), black flats, tights, or black dress pants with a belt.

Since Bryn Mawr is in Pennsylvania and it’s probably going to be cooler on the 29th, you should be fine not suffocating during the tour/info session afterwards. You could always run into the bathroom and take off the button-down if you’re wearing a nice tank top or T-shirt underneath.

Good luck, I’m sure that you’ll do well and look great!

Define cooler, because I know that area and at the end of August you can expect anywhere from 80 to 90 degrees during the day.

Yeah I’d also like to know when in August PA is cool

The following information comes from my college and our on campus interview, YMMV:

We generally don’t expect students to dress up in anything unless they are interviewing for a scholarship (in which case an interview suit is appropriate). I would say the majority of males wear jeans or khakis and a polo. A few wear a button-up shirt. As far as the girls, there’s a bit more variety there, but usually a knee length skirt and some sort of blouse.

You’ll be fine as long as you don’t show up wearing anything with holes in it or that looked like you slept in last night! If you feel like dressing up a bit, that’s totally fine and a lot of people do wear khakis and a button up or a more professional outfit because it helps their confidence and take the interview more seriously, but I’ve never really consciously paid that much attention to what someone is wearing since we know that you all are teenagers in high school who have a lot of outdoor walking to do during your campus visit!

It’s summer. You are going to be on a tour. You can wear shorts.
