College interview logistics question

Sorry ahead of time if this seems like a silly question. So I have an interview at La Madeleine. All of my past off-campus interviews have all been at Starbucks, and I'm used to just ordering a peppermint tea or something and sipping at it while the interviewer and I talk.

However, I'm not sure what to order at La Madeleine or whether to even order anything at all (wouldn't that seem weird?). Wouldn't it be weird if I'm like munching on a quiche while talking with my interviewer about my academic passions? Should I just go with a coffee or iced tea or something?

Also, I should request an afternoon time, not an evening time (dinner), correct? So around 3 pm?

I know I should be focusing on the actual interview portion, but I can't help but to think about every detail.

I don’t blame you. So you’ve agreed on a place but not a time? Did the interviewer pick the place?

I don’t know what kind of place La Madeleine is, but I would assume you should treat it like being at a Starbucks and just order a drink.

Our S had two La Madeleine interviews and ordered nothing both times. He was accepted by both schools. If you order anything, it should be only a drink. Chewing while interviewing is a bad idea. Your interviewer will have many interviews lined up and will not order a new drink with each person. It’s just fine to order nothing. This is also true at Starbucks or any other retail place you go for an interview.

ventur: perhaps this will ease your fears as well – in about 95% of cases, interviews have no affect whatsoever. And this is from a +20 year interviewer for an HYP

Thank you everyone. I guess I’ll just order a drink. And T26E4, I’ve heard that before. I guess I’m pretty OCD about these things. Thanks for the insight though!
