It really depends upon the college, each have their own way of conducting interviews. Generally, there are 2 basic types of interviews. The “informational” interview is basically a chance for a college to answer any questions you may have or provide you with some basic information. An “evaluative” interview, however, is where the interviewer will be asking questions specific to their internal process with the goal of seeing if you would be a good fit or candidate.

As a general rule of thumb, prepare for either interview with specific questions you have about the college, your major, student life, and any other issues important to you. We were stunned to hear several of the AdCons comment to my D how impressed they were with her questions and how few they actually get. Asking the questions show that you have done your homework about the college.

When you have interviews lined up at specific schools, you may want to post this question on that schools CC forum. The students that have gone through the process can give you some guidance as to their experience.
