My parents think my reply to a college alumni interviewer’s email to arrange a meeting was rude. I didn’t realize it was until they brought it up, and now I’m scared she’ll start off with a bad impression of me. What do I do?
Can’t do anything now. Just be sure to be polite when you meet for the interview and send a short but gracious thank you email promptly after the interview.
I suspect your parents may not do lots of emails at work? Adults who navigate emails daily have a pretty thick skin about “rudeness” or “protocol”. I receive and send 100s each day. The vast vast majority of my emails are terse and to the point. They’re not flowery letters. (like this post)
You’re fine.
@T26E4 it wasn’t necessarily that it was terse and too the point, it was more that I sounded inconsiderate. Would you mind if I PM you the correspondence for you to judge?
OP sent me the emails. I told him/her that I thought they were 100% fine.
