Just curious how many have interview request have you guys received. I only gotten 1 out of the 18 I applied to. Also I live in Southern California so there shouldn’t be a shortage of alumni. Is this a bad sign?
We don’t know what colleges you applied to. Maybe some of them don’t offer interviews. Maybe others do, but they can only offer an interview if they have willing alumni. Maybe the willing alumni are just getting through the stacks of apps. Apps only closed for most colleges a couple of weeks ago. Maybe you have to request an interview.
Be patient. My kid was offered an interview for a very selective school in early March. Other kids she knew weren’t offered an interview at all. She didn’t get into that school, at any rate. Conventional wisdom on CC says that interviews don’t get you in and don’t count for much, if anything.
I live in socal as well and applied to 22 colleges, and so far 6 have reached out for interviews. As Lindagaf said, it really depends on the colleges you applied to. At any rate, don’t stress as interviews are rarely make-or-break.
Depending on the schools, but typically how much weight towards the admission decision is an interview with an alumnus?
@fleeingdays why so many applications?
@sherimba03 I like to keep my options open especially in terms of financial aid and scholarships. Plus, I received some fee waivers. I also applied to a lot of super reaches, which is why I applied to so many. It’s just what’s worked for my particular situation, and even though it’s a lot of work, I don’t regret it and I’d do it all over again
