I just received an email today from a small liberal arts college that wants to fly me out for their student of color day. I submitted my application more then a month ago. Does this mean that my chances of getting in are likely?

If they are paying, I'd say yes.

Pack your bags -- they are really trying to lure you in. Keep an open mind however and make sure you ask STUDENTS what they like/dislike about the college.

Are my odds lessened because three other students of color at my (very small)high school have applied and have already been flown out a few months ago?

If I don't go because of my busy schedule, will I ruin my chances?

I don't think the time difference between when the other students visited and when you go matters. Depending on what school it is, it might be advantageous to "show interest" by attending. But even more important, it's a great opportunity for you to go and see if it's the right school for you.

My D met some great kids that way-often the same kids where going to the same events! of course they didn't all end up going to the same school, but some of the friendships (ok, maybe acquaintances) persisted, and it really opened up a new world for her.
