Anything in particular I should bring? Transcripts, I am assuming. Should I bring proof of extra-curricular civic involvement? Thanks.
You don’t need to bring proof of ECs. A transcript might be nice – but they’re hoping to showcase why you should choose them. They’re trying to sell themselves to you. Go and ask with pointed questions. See what they have that meets your needs. You’re selling yourself, too – but only to a point. In reality, they want to start a dialogue. If both parties bring to the table what’s necessary (you with your academics and ability to pay – them with your degree programs, being a good value, and other reasons why you should choose them over another college), then you can close the deal at some later point.
Good luck.
My S went to an undergraduate college fair and did not bring any documents. I guess it would not hurt to bring a transcript and (if you have one prepared) a resume. I’m not sure if a transfer fair would work the same way but the fair that he attended was crowded and he got just a few minutes with the representatives of most schools he had interest in. He did fill out a form at each school he visited at the fair so they had it on record that he was at their booth. If you have targeted some schools be able to speak about why they would be a good fit for you and have some questions ready.
