I mentioned this one back in June and it was recently featured at scholarships360.org
It is open & the deadline is 10/17/2011 so thought I would mention it again!

The College JumpStart Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition -- financial need is not considered -- that is open to 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students. The main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education.

■First Place: $1,500 scholarship
■Second Place: $750 scholarship
■Honorable Mentions: $250 scholarships
To apply for the College JumpStart Scholarship you must meet the following requirements:

1) High school 10th-12th grader, college student or non-traditional student;
2) U.S. citizen or legal resident;
3) Attend or plan to attend an accredited 2-year, 4-year or vocational / trade school in the U.S.
4) Be committed to using education to better your life and that of your family and/or community.

I dunno. When I see things like this with no corporate backing or any way it’s a self-sufficient foundation, I wonder how this works. Do they sell the essays they receive? Perhaps the personal information like mailing address?

As to you Winthropmom (or Lisa whichever you prefer to be called), why are your only posts dedicated to scholarships? Just curious, nothing personal ;)

Lisa is fine I was previously going by the id swicks2011 (swicks being a nickname & 2011 the end goal for my daughter in HS) Now she is going off to college in less than a week I decided it was time to update my id) So, if you check that ID you will see I have more of a history there :)

Anyways, This is a scholarship forum?? Is that a good enough answer…lol I am in awe of this past year riding this roller coaster going from worry over my daughter not being able to go to college to the other extreme of having to turn down some scholarships. I am a giver and like to help others… If I help or encourage one person I’m a happy camper! I have been getting emails with questions so I know I must be doing something good!

I didn’t take it personal at all, You are not the first to ask and I understand in this day & age people are generally very skeptical of us helpers…I am going to take a stab at it and guess you are not from a very small rural town in the South where I have discovered people are still the way they were back in the day…
