in fall of 2018 i will be going to college most likely majoring in English (concentration on writing) and sociology or film (definitely English though) to purchase new laptop i want it to be have a variety of capabilities referring to art like film, drawing, and such things. i need it to be light weight and have good storage. i would like really like a touch screen but i am open to other options. i have always wanted a mac but i am hesitant with no touch screen options but desire to have it. having it being known to be good for artist of different varieties. i have a very flexible price rage. i have also considered a ipad pro. but am iffy on getting that as a laptop. i will be using this device a lot so i need something durable as well. looks are not extremely important. can any body help my indecisiveness

One thing to think about: A few universities have “recommended” laptops. For example, in a few cases if you purchase the exact laptop that they recommend and get some sort of support contract, then the IT folks on campus will have loner laptops available. This might be useful for example if your laptop fails the week before finals.
I don’t know how common this is.
I believe that the Dell XPS can be had with a touch screen, as well as the Asus Zenbook. I don’t know if those are small enough for you.
MacBook might be a good option for you. You should try one out at an Apple store if you can. It comes with just about all the sw you’ll need. An added benefit is that if you use iPhone they play well together.
